Cumyl peroxyneodecanoate is an organic peroxide decomposed at medium and low temperatures and widely used as a free radical polymerization initiator. Its molecular structure combines the good hydrolytic stability provided by caprylic acid with the storage stability brought by isopropylphenyl (cadbury).
The main product characteristics as below
*Excellent low temperature reactivity:
Its decomposition temperature is low, and it can efficiently produce free radicals in the temperature range of 30-50℃, which is very suitable for polymerization processes that require low temperature start-up, thus saving energy.
*Excellent hydrolytic stability:
It has a high degree of branched structure, which can effectively space-block and protect the peroxide bond from water attack. Therefore, its hydrolysis resistance is better than many straight-chain peroxides (such as peroxynonadecyl ester).
*Good solubility in a variety of media:
As an organic ester, it is soluble in a variety of organic monomers and solvents, such as styrene, acrylate, etc., to ensure uniform dispersion and decomposition in the reaction system.

Application
Production of PVC resin
It can efficiently initiate at low temperatures of 30-50 ℃, shorten the polymerization cycle, and save energy. Simultaneously, it helps to obtain high-quality PVC resin with uniform particle morphology, few fish eyes, and high porosity.

UPR curing agent
Suitable for composite material molding processes that have sensitive requirements for curing temperature, such as partial coating and adhesive curing

Coating
As an initiator for thermosetting coatings, it triggers cross-linking and curing of resins such as acrylic esters, which helps to form a high gloss, wear-resistant, and scratch resistant protective layer.

Adhesives and sealants
As an initiator for the polymerization or curing of acrylic adhesives, it can be used to synthesize adhesive resins with specific properties or achieve room temperature/medium low temperature curing.

Package & Storage

FAQ
Q: What are its potential applications in emerging areas?
A: In emerging fields, it demonstrates application potential in areas such as curing of electronic packaging adhesives, surface modification of medical materials (e.g., hydrophilic coatings), and advanced composite manufacturing (e.g., RTM process). These applications fully leverage its advantages of moderate curing temperature, high efficiency, and minimal thermal impact on substrates.
Q: In addition to chemical production, what is its unique value in the field of scientific research?
A: In scientific research, Cumyl peroxyneodecanoate is a valuable tool to synthesize polymers with specific structures. Because its decomposition characteristics are known and controllable, researchers can use it to design complex polymer reaction sequences for the synthesis of new materials and the study of polymermechanism.
